i once had a jaw breaker when i was about 9 i think and i got bored with coz i had two, so i decided to smash one of them of the ground and me and my twin sister counted the layers, i think if i can remember correctly i think it was about 278 layers. mind you we did have one of the really big ones. you know the ones you couldn't fit into your mouth. and depending on the gobstopper you get you can get ones with chewing gum in the middle but mainly its just the sweet ball like the layers. and some have a small soft chewy ball in the middle, not chewing gum tho just a small soft eatable sweet.

There is gum in the middle but I have no idea how many layers there are I guess it depends on how big the jaw breaker is. I've seen them in different sizes.
Keep biting into enough jawbreakers and you will find broken teeth!
