SO NEAR AND YET SO FAR: something that you say which means that you have almost achieved something but that what you still have to do in order to achieve it is very difficult or impossible.
EXAMPLE: I've only got the last chapter to write but it's taking forever. So near, yet so agonizingly far.
Yes I've heard it. It means (to me) loving someone you can't have.
I always thought it meant that you were thinking on the right track, but you are still no where near the answer.
I can't think of an example but I hope that is good enough...lol
I think it means they are so close and dear to you but they you dont have anything in common so what ever relationship (friend, bff, boyfriend/girlfriend) will never work out.
to me its like when a kid really wants a cookie but the cookie jar is on the top shelf. see, the cookies r so close but the kid just can't get them, nd that's why their so far
