Question: a man was found in his office at 1pm. two detectives searched the room. they found his half eaten sandwich apple core, juice box, jammed stapler, scattered paperwork, empty bottle of water and a shell casing from a .37. one detective said hes died 5mins before they arrived but other thinks it was over an hour ago that he died.
who was right and why?

the apple core was/wasn't brown... so he died 5 min. or over an hour...?
An hour ago, why, because lunch time is around 12PM noon. Thats my guess.
My other guess would be he isn't dead lol since you said... a man was found ... not 'found dead'... thats me.

errrr? maybe like 1 hr ago beacause all the food was poisoned and poison doesnt kill you instantly? so am i right?
you didn't mention that the man wsa found dead. so he wasn't dead.
but if it is a typing mistake then he died an hour ago as the paper work was scattered. the murderer killed him searched for something found the papers and tried to staple them in hurry and jammed it [or was it jammed with fruit jam.] Drank remaining water from the bottle, as if the man had eaten half the sandwich he would have left some water to drink after finishing the sandwich.
all this would not be possible in five minutes and make a successful escape. SO my guess is 1 hour.
