I like the bottom, because when you have a bunk bed, you can cover the bottom bed all around like a tent, and then you have this really neat private secluded area =)
Bottom. It's just safer.
If the ceiling is wuite low then the top, otherwise the bottom - it is strange 'cos I am usually slightly claustrophobic(sp.?) but when it comes to sleeping I have to be as enclosed as much as possible - quilt over my head etc.
Top because I like clambering in and out, and you get to have an excuse not to make the bed (besides, no one can see in) It also gives an sxcuse for the person on the bottom bunk to get out of bed and turn off the light, not you.

bottom!..it's dark in there and it's easier to fall asleep..i also goes to the bathroom in the middle of the nyt..so i wont stumble over..i myt fall wen im on top..too dark to stumble.hehe
I like the bottom.
You can make a tent, hang things on the slats, and push up the matteress to annoy whoever is up there.
