Not many of our old nursery rhymes actually make any sense. And why they were taught over and over to our kids and their kids and etc. etc. I will never know. I suppose it is just one of those things that we will continually pass on from generation to generation. I just became a G-ma....watch...I will pass them on to my grandkids and they will be just as confused as you are now.
The wife, nursery rhymes are pretty interesting when you look into what they're really saying.

all she could get was their tails because they were running so fast if she would have been faster it probably would have said...she cut off their heads with a carving knife!!
