Get to know them first, you know dinner & a movie lol sorry couldn't resist. Some one once told me the utters look at them if they look full means they are good cavers, and they have a good supply of milk for there off spring " and the bull doesn’t mind either lol". Every heifer we ever bought we either new the farmer who raised her or new of her offspring and we saw them for our selves, but when we did buy a cow at the market or stock yards (depends on where you from) we always looked for good health signs, good weight, temperament which is hard to see when they are scared to death but you can, and no sign of neglect
