Amazing riddle to those who are genius!?!

Question: You have won a contest and now have the chance win a $10,000. The $10,000 prize is hidden behind one of 3 closed doors; the other 2 doors are empty. You are asked to make your choice and you choose one of the 3 doors. The host then opens one of the 2 doors that you did not choose revealing that it is empty. You are now given the option of sticking with your original choice of doors or switching to the other unopened door? What do you do to give yourself the best odds of winning?

You should switch. There is a 1/3 chance that you'll hit the prize door, and a 2/3 chance that you'll miss the prize. If you do not switch, 1/3 is your probability to get the prize. However, if you missed (and this with the probability of 2/3) then the prize is behind one of the remaining two doors. Furthermore, of these two, the host will open the empty one, leaving the prize door closed. Therefore, if you miss and then switch, you are certain to get the prize. Summing up, if you do not switch your chance of winning is 1/3 whereas if you do switch your chance of winning is 2/3. Hope that made sense. :)

stick with your door!!!!!! Never Change!!!!!

youve got a 50/50 chance whatever door you choose

i dont exactly know what your asking but before any of the doors are opened the chance of getting the 10k is 33% but when one of the doors is opened without the 10k then the odds are 50% of getting the cash, i hope this is what you are looking for.

wtf?!
that is hard to follow

first choice, I never second guess myself

well your odds of having picked the right door is now 50/50 because one of the left over doors is empty and one has the prize
there is nothing specific you can do to higher your odds but why did the host open one of the doors is he hinting that youv'e made the right choice
i would stick with my decision its still 50%

Stick with the original. I f the earlier answer was wrong, I would not have been given another chance. Another chance to change means I may change from right to wrong door. So my original selection of door was right.

is that a riddle or a real life situation

I know I am wrong but I might as well try. Uhm, can't you just choose both, because you're asked to make a choice, but they never said you had to only pick one.

I feel stupid for answering because I just know it's wrong.

The answer probably needs a lot of logic, and I lack that.

Oops, I am wrong, I just re-read that last part, about you having to choose between the two.

go woth ur instinct

the odds are 50/50 whatever door u choose lol and i thought u said it was a question for a genious lol x

This is the Monty Hall problem, isn't it?

Odds are now 50/50. I would stick with the original door I chose.

ahhh dude their are only 3 doors, and two were opened and empty ... DUH !! you already freakin won..

Watch his movements and body. If he's a bit reluctant to go to one door, that shows he is unsure which of the other doors is empty and that one of them has the money. If he opens the door without hesitation, than he knows whichever door he picks it's going to be empty and therefore, the one you picked has the money. If he intimidates you somehow, stick to the door you chose, as he might be trying to save his 10,000 and get a higher profit.

stick with your first choise. gut instints are usually right. also there is a 50/50 that you are right

Are you on the show at the moment? You can not improve your odds, 50/50 is as good as it gets.

Switch to the unopened door.

the 1st door!!!

I would switch doors. You have a greater odd of picking the wrong door the first time (2 out of 3). Now that the odds are 1 and 2, your odds of picking the wrong door has reduced. However, if you stick with the first choice, you still have the 2 out of 3 odd of losing because that was the odds when you made the choice. So if you change, you now have a 1 in 2 chance of winning.

skeptic has the right answer...there was an actual game show like this - until people figured out the trick.
So yea switch :P

stick with your first choice because the first instinct is usually correct

open the door you chose?

His pick for an empty door must be used as a hint for me to make the intelligent choice!and you've already done that.go for it

Well, I think you've chosen the right door & that's why the host has given you a second chance. He opens a new door (empty) to confuse you.

Now, what if you choose the wrong door?
1.The host will not give you a chance that you've already chosen the wrong door. Or he'll open the door that you choose to make 50-50 situation (for both).
2.Again If you choose the wrong door and the host opens another wrong door (as the scenario). Then there is a possibility to switch. I think the host will not do that.

Finally, I think, if you're right the host will open any one of the 2 doors as he did. And if you're wrong he'll open your door.

So, Stick with the door you choose and win the prize!!!

This is the Monty Hall Problem right? You should always change. Think of it like this:
You pick door A. It's empty. You stick, you get nothing. You change, you get money.

You pick door B. It's empty. You stick, you get nothing. You change, you get money.

You pick door C. It has the money. You stick, you get money. You change, you get nothing.

Therefore, by switching, 2 out of 3 times you will get the money.
