Riddle - missing dollar?!
Question: Three room-mates want to buy a dvd player for their apartment and share the cost. They see in the shop that it costs $30.00, so they each pay $10.00 and leave with the dvd player.
The manager tells the cashier that the dvd players are now $25.00 so he needs to go give the guys $5.00 back. The cashier decides that because he can't split $5 three ways, he will give each of the customers $1.00 and keep $2.00 for himself which he puts in his back pocket.
Each of the room-mates has now given out $10.00 and had $1.00 back making them out of pocket by $9.00 each....a total of $27.00. If you add the remaining $2.00 in the cashiers pocket, you end up with $29.00.......... WHERE IS THE MISSING DOLLAR?

you're adding positives to negatives so it doesnt work
they have a dvd player = 25
each got a dollar back = 28
cashiers 2 dollars = 30
you have to add them all as positives :)

because the way to do the calculations
isn't with multiplication
but simple addition & subtraction

There is no missing dollar.
$30- $5 off= $25
$25 + $3 cashier gave= $28
$28 + $2 cashier kept= $30
um.... well thats weird because 25+3+28 but 3x9 is 27 now you got me confused
