No. Comedy is not a universal language. Love is considered a universal language, because everyone has the capacity to feel it. Some people have a more difficult time DESCRIBING love, and some people speak different languages than each others, so their verbal communication is limited. But still, everyone has the opportunity to know what it FEELS like to love something -- even if they speak different languages. It unites us.
Sometimes music is ALSO considered a universal language, for the same reason -- because it can bridge the gap where spoken language is misunderstood. Even though people enjoy different STYLES of music, they can often identify, or convert various feelings THROUGH it.
Comedy is NOT universal in this way, because it's too diverse, and each joke is unique and caters toward only people who can RELATE to the situation described in the joke. The reason many of the best jokes are funny, is NOT because they are just silly and ridiculous, but rather, because they're the types of joke about which someone can say: "It's funny because it's TRUE!"
A joke about a person's big nose, is only funny if the person actually HAS a big nose. Furthermore, it's not nice to make fun of people's imperfections, so the person whom the joke is ABOUT, might not find it as funny as everyone else. But then again... they MIGHT, if they've ACCEPTED their nose, and have a certain sense of humor about it. Jokes which criticize president Bush are often enjoyed by Democrats, and not Republicans. Everyone's sense of humor is different, because the things which they can RELATE to, are different. Therefore, it is damn near IMPOSSIBLE to tell a joke which everyone on Earth would consider to be funny, even if they tried to pick a neutral subject.
The PROBLEM, is that the more they TRY to focus on picking a neutral subject, the more the joke loses its appeal, to a point where NO ONE can relate to it, which makes it not funny at ALL.

comedy is all about relating to the audience...theyve got to have an insight to what the joke is about
I doubt it there are all kinds of ppl so no and most ppl like dirty jokes or jokes they can relate too!
it depends on the age group of the audience members..... i dont think there is a joke that can make EVERYONE laugh, cuz there r SO many different tyes of people in this world
I was never sure how they did it.
It was like they had a one sided convorsation. they usually start with "have you ever noticed?"
But there might be there might not be. I have no clue, I am not a comedian. But they are talented!!
hmm well a universal laugh .. when i think of that i think of a classic fart joke or something.. i dont think its possible to tell one single joke to everyone in a nation or city or town and everyone thinks its really really funny. but that goes with tv shows.. i mean not everyone thinks seinfield is funny but i love it.. my family loves it. so no ... its not possible.
yes. GEORGE LOPEZ is the only comedian I know that can do that because his jokes have to do with things that actually do happen to latinos
