Fill the 5 gallon jug, fill the 3 gallon from the 5 gallon, now pour the 3 gallon back into the barrel and then take the remaining 2 that is in the 5 gallon jug and split it evenly between the two jugs.
1: Fill up the 5-gallon jug to the top.
2: Using the 5-gallon jug, fill up the 3-gallon jug.
3: Empty the 3-gallon jug and pour the 2 gallons left over from the 5-gallon jug into it.
4: Fill the 5-gallon jug again.
5: Fill the 3-gallon jug again to the top.
6: You now have exactly 4 gallons left over in your 5-gallon jug!
Fill the five gallon jug and pour it into the three gallon, whats left in the five will be 2 Gallons, do it twice and you will be left with 4 gallons. :]
assuming they are the same diameter, pour one gallon into the 3 gallon. You'll know it's 4 when they are the same height in liquid.
fill the 5 gallon jug up
leave the 3 gallon jug empty
pour the 5 galloon jug into the 3 gallon njug so you have 2 gallons left in the 5 gallon jug
do this twice then you will have 2x2 gallons which you can add together

Tip 1- 5th of the 5 gallon jug into the 3 gallon jug then that would give you 4 gallons.If that is to hard tip the whole lot in a bucket then halve it which would also give you 4 gallons.
pour water into 5 gallon first, then put the 3 gallon jug inside a larger bowl. Pour all water from 5 gallon jug in 3 gallon one, the water spilled out is = 2 gallon, repeat the process - you get exactly 4 gallon in that bowl
you get the 5gallon+3gallon+3gallon=11gallon.Then
11gallon-[5gallon+5gallon]=1gallon
1gallon+3gallon=4gallon
