Question: Ok..so you have $100 and you have to buy 100 animals. You have to buy all of the animals. Here are the animal and the prices:
Chicken-$.50 (50 cents)
Cow-$10(ten dollars)
Sheep-$5(five dollar)
You need to spend all of your $100 on 100 animals. You have to buy them all. How many chickens, cows, and sheeps do you have?

I decided to break all the rules and not spend all my money. i also realized that when i went to the store cows were way more than $10. and sheep were more than $5, and i don't like chickens. Instead i went to a grocery store and bought lamb chops, chicken fingers, and steak with my money and had a big party with all of my friends and we ate $99 worth of food. I then i gave 99 cents to charity. :)
I would buy 90 chickens, one cow, and 9 sheep. But I've no idea what I would do with them! Open a bucthers shop maybe?

It's a trick question. The question is "how many chickens, cows, and sheep do you have?" None! You need to buy them first!
90 chickens = $45
9 sheep = $45
1 cow = $10
100 animals = $100

Let z = number of sheep
x + y + z = 100 (eq. 1)
Total cost is
.5x + 10y + 5z = 100 or
x + 20y +10z = 200 (eq. 2)
Subtract eq. 1 from eq. 2,
19y + 9z = 100. Find the combination of cows and sheep that add up to 100. Use logic to investigate possibilities:
y can be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
z can be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11
y cannot be 2, 3, 4, or 5 because there is no 9z value that can add up to 100. So y must be 1, the number of cows.
If y = 1, then 19(1) + 9z = 100. z must be 9, the number of sheep.
100 animals - 10 animals = 90 chickens.
Check the cost:
90(.5) + 1(10) + 9(5) = $100.
So the number of animals are:

9 sheep
