One of the first forms of correction fluid was invented in 1951 by the secretary Bette Nesmith Graham, founder of Liquid Paper (the mother of Michael Nesmith, a member of The Monkees).

Bette nesmith graham, invented liquid paper, she was a typist I believe and used to pot up her own mix, then a few people started asking if she could supply them with some. The rest as they say is history.
