Question: IF A PIZZA IS A CIRCLE WHY DOES IT COME IN A SQUARE BOX

Answers: IF A PIZZA IS A CIRCLE WHY DOES IT COME IN A SQUARE BOX

Pizza packaging probably began in the 1940s after World War II. With the advent of carry-out pizza, the first pizza package was most likely a combination of paper bag and a chipboard or corrugated square. With this, the pizza is placed on the square and the entire unit is slid into the bag which is taped or stapled shut. Subsequently, a circle replaced the square shape, making it easier to insert into the bag. This package was convenient (no pre-folding needed) and highly economical. But it lacked stacking strength, heat retention, and product protection capability — three requirements for good pizza packaging.

Soon the paperboard pizza box appeared. It resembled the structure of bakery cake cartons of the time, in that the four corners of the box were formed by inserting a tab projecting from one wall into a slot in an adjacent wall. Due to the thinness of the material, it requires a piece of aluminum foil or a chipboard or corrugated pad in the bottom. To impart rigidity and prevent accidental cover opening, the box is stapled or taped shut on all sides. This was slightly less convenient than the circle and bag package, but it imparted a measure of heat retention and product protection — two key factors to functional pizza packaging.

that's a good question.
maybe they like a different variety of shapes.
and thats why the slices are triangles with curved crusts.

got no idea thought the same thing myself only the other day

probably becoz it's hard to make a round box...making a square box is way easier

Have you ever tried to make a round box?

hehe....

well square boxes are SOOOO much easier to make than circle ones
and in pizza hut they do make square pizzas
but i think the reason is so that it confuses everyone in all of the world

=)

firstly , because it would be easier to stack pizza boxes if they were parallelograms (rectangles or squares)..... thats why they breed square watermelons in japan....

Heard this question before..

um...cause it will be easier to get out right...

Why do they say you can't have your cake and eat it too?

I mean if you see a cake and your hungry aren't you ment to eat it?

I think it's coz circle/round boxes are way harder to make...

B-coz it is invented by the same team who failed to make the aeroplane with the same material used to construct the black box which won't damage during the crash but the plane will.

I KNOW!
(okay its a theory)

well, pizza makers will have to put the pizza in exactly --- like carefully into the box.
whereas with square boxes you have more room thus they chuck it in and it saves them time alright

plus it gives a variety of shapes!

circle can fit inside a square...

square can fit inside a circle???

thats why the pizza shape is circle and the box shape is square

because contrast creates interest and anticipation!!!
lol. to many music lessons.
?

First :- A circle fits in exactly in a square box and is safely transported.
Second:- The gaps at the four corners provide enough space for removing it using forks, spoons or tongs.

thats a good question... i wonder why

Round box costs too much to produce and takes up too much room. They are stacked flat to ship and store and some loser at the pizza place has to fold them into an actual box. Extra box cost would be charged to YOU..the guy eating the pizza

good qeustion
they must make square pizza's in a square box

mmmmmmmmm more pizza to eat then

=-)

square shape is easier to pack so they can get more in the van

cuz the square box make people think it's a bigger pizza

A circle box rolls all over he place.
