Question: 3 men walking down the street and see a car for sale at £30 on a car forecourt. They decided to contribute £10 each to purchase the vehicle. They approach the salesman about the purchase when the manager calls him into the office. "I know those 3 men" the manager said "They can have that car for £25". The salesman decides to make a personal profit of £2 which he puts in his pocket. He returns to the 3 buyers and said you can have the car for £27 and give them back £1 each. This means that the 3 men paid £9 each which equals £27. £27 plus the £2 the salesman put in his pocket totals £29. Where has the other £1 gone.

They paid a total of 25 for the car, and 2 went to the salesman. That's the 27. Then, each man also has 1 back. 27+3=30. The 2 the salesman put in his pocket is included in the 27 paid.




Yes, I know they gave 30 and got 1 back each. 25 for the car, 2 to the salesman, 3 back. Still adds up to 30. It's just basic mathematics

To the manager? IDK...... mabey it fluttered away in the wind or something..... It exploded?

I've heard this one a million times in different stories, people just don't know how to do math!
25+2=27
27+3=30

This is similar to "How many fingers do I have"
10,9,8,7,6 plus 5 onthe other hand =11

Tony, yours doesnt work either, because you counted down 10,9,8,7,6 plus 5 on the other hand, your not stopping at 6, your going down in the scale, 6-10 = 5. 5 fingers on each hand = 10.
1.2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9.10. Simple.

As for this one, yea, as said, 25 for the car, plus 2 for the salesman + 1 for each person = £30. They did not pay £9 each, they paid 8.3 approx (25/3 = 8.333333). It's just a play on words to make it sound plausible.

dude this is just too plain simple they were supposed to pay 27 for the car they each gave 30 for it the salesman returns 3 30-3=27 the car actually costs 25, 25-27=2 there are the two that the salsesman profitted from
have you forgotten the car costs only 25 and they pay 27 so he made a profit of 2

The 3 buyers gave £30 and received £3 back (£1 each) so the each actually paid 27 £ totally so there you have it 25+2=27 there is no 1£ renaining

27$ + 3$ which is you return to the 3men is equal to 30$. YOU shouldn't count what you put into your pocket fot it's the change rather.

not to make it more broader. uhmm here:

27 which is the cost of the car plus the 3$ which is the change.
