Why, if there is an answer, do we sing "Rock a Bye" to our young one&#!

Question: " Rock-a-bye, baby
In the treetop
When the wind blows
The cradle will rock
When the bough breaks
The cradle will fall
And down will come baby
Cradle and all"

C'mon, admit it, if that baby weren't so cute, they wouldn't survive long with all the fussing and crying and messing things up they do.

Greazy sticky kids only survive because they're cute.

That song is what we all wish would happen at one time or another.

It's funny because it sounds so soothing, but the baby doesn't understand that sometimes we'd like to see them take a long walk off a short cradle.
.

Know that you mention it like that its pretty funny.

haha when i think about it like that its funny ....thanks

STAR FOR U!!!!!

AND 10 PTS FOR ME!!!!

It's quite sad if you think about it.

Many classic children's songs and nursery rhymes are violent and scary, and I could never figure out why either!
I mean, Jill's friend Jack broke his skull, Georgie Porgie just made girls cry, Miss Muffett got scared away by a spider, Jack Sprat and his wife had serious food allergies, and why on earth would we need to be taught that pies may contain 24 blackbirds?!

Adding to the previous answer Ring around the Rosie is was actually about the Plague and there's a french lullaby about plucking a birds feathers out. Crazy, huh?

Good one......I don't have any babies , except for my pets.......I could sing that to my bf though!!!! LOL!!!!

Little kids, esp. babies, don't understand the words, it's about the tune.
