Imagine This?!

Question: You are to buy an item worth $97. You owed $50 from your father and another $50 from your mother. So you have $100. After buying, you're left with $3. You gave $1 to your father and $1 to your mother. So you have $49 debt from your father and $49 debt from your mother and a $1 remaining in your pocket. However, 49+49+1 = 99. It's not one hundred. How come?

People with low IQs are fooled by this puzzle. At least you must realize the mistake within a minute. If you'll explain what's wrong, indicate the number of minutes it took you to realize it.

You gave a dollar to each Mother and Father, so you cannot add how much you owe them, and how much you have.

49 + 49 + 1 = 99.
Is basically saying: "How much you owe mother + How much you owe father + How much you have left = 99."

You buy the item, and have three dollars, so you give one dollar to your parents, EACH. So that's MINUS TWO DOLLARS.

You added current debt, which is wrong.

Take the $97 you gave to purchase the item, the $2 your parents have, and your only dollar, and you get one hundred dollars.

$97 + $2 + $1 = 100.
"Money used to purchase item" + "Money given to parents" + "Money left" = "Original amount".

I realized this the second time I read the riddle.
I don't know how many minutes that is, sorry.

dumb

sorry...I cant Imagine

Sounds correct but you can't calculate it that way cuz you are adding the debts to your parents and the remainder in your pocket.

And btw, it's not low IQ ppl who are fooled, the puzzle just need a little bit of thinking and reasoning.
