Hi.
Technically, at least in the US, if you name an actual size, say a 6 when shopping for a dress, the term "medium" has no meaning. So yes - you will confuse sales staff because you would be asking for something that doesn't exist.
So don't mix those terms.
The only place a terminology like that really exists is in (again US) shoe sizes where sizes like "8 wide" exist.
So ask for a "medium" or "size 7" but not both.
