Indian head nickels??!

Question:

Indian head nickels??

I have a few indian head coins and i wanna know how much are they worth? The nickel is in pretty good shape the only thing is it doesn't have a date on it. I mean, no one scratched it off or anything like that. It just came that way. Does that mean it's older than the usual coins? What about the pennies? (indian head) How much are they worth? The date on them i think are 1883...What's their value? Please help:

Answers:

The Buffalo nickel(that's what it's more popularly referred to as in the hobby world) has a minimum value of 8 cents up to 25 cents if dateless depending on where you buy it from. Without the date, it means that the nickel was heavily circulated or it was probably an earlier issue before the Mint changed the numerals to bolder and larger fonts. There's a way to bring up the date using ferric chloride solution but I wouldn't advise you to do so for health reasons; leave them to the trained hands. As for the Indian Head cent, the 1883-dated, in worn condition with the word "Liberty" on the headband gone or partially visible is valued at $2 to $3.
