If nobody buys a movie ticket, do they still show the movie?

No. My daughter and I went to see a movie, and we were running about 5 minutes late, but we figured it did not matter since they have about 20 minutes of previews anyway. When we got there the theater said that no one came to see it, so they did not start the projector and if they started it now it would end late which would screw up their schedule. We asked if they could start it and skip the previews or at least the first 5 minutes of previews, but they said no.
