A Very good Joke (Personal view of course).?

I met Pete, an old mate the other day, Pete has been blind from birth I am sorry to say, still, I said.....
"Hiya Pete, long time no see" Pete replied, "Yeah, very funny Wheelrim, that one always gets me" I said, "No, really, how are you mate?" he said, "well, seeings you asked, I am fine, I have taken up dangerous sports." "Wow" I said, "Like what?" Pete went on to tell me that he had done a couple of Bungee Jumps, been on the `Cresta-Run`, and was now doing Free-Fall Parachuting. I was Impressed to say the least.
"Hang on though Pete" said I,
"When you are about to jump, there is a Red light and a Green Light, how do you know when to jump?" "AAAAH" said Pete, "An instructer taps me on the shoulder"
"Then, when do you know how high up you are to pull the ripcord, being Blind and all that?"
"Its Automatic at 2000 feet" said Pete.
"Ok" I said, "but how do you know when your feet are about to hit the ground, so to avoid injury then?"
"Well...the lead goes slack"........
