Does laughing at a Pope joke make you anti-Christian?

I answered a Pope joke on YA, and like most of the other people on the forum, I found the joke funny. Both the asker and most of the people were probably Christian, but they still found the joke funny. One guy, who won't be named, didn't. In my answer, I told him to lighten up, it's only a joke.

He then proceeded to go through my questions, before realising that I was a Muslim, and then replied with an offensive message.

I have nothing against Christianity nor its folllowers. He tells me that I was the one that made it into a religious issue when this is what he wrote:

Message: Sense of humour has got nothing to do with lightening up, if you find that obvious punch line funny, without having the intelligence to see what's coming long before it arrives, then laugh. Go ahead. I don't criticise your sense of humour, so don't criticise mine. OK, got it!!! Thank god we are all different and laugh at different things. Or should that be in your case thank Allah. If the joke was about Allah maybe you wouldn't think it was so funny, declare a fatwah on the asker, and sentence her to death. I don't appreciate jokes about the Pope. Difference is, I just stated my opinion of the feable joke, I did not make a religious issue of it. Got it ok Alam. Now **** off. By the way, please do not even bother replying, I never even take time to open emails that come through this system, I just delete them. Bye bye Mo

theres the joke if you wanna see it. thanks for the answers guys. I have no idea what his problem is, if you read my response, you'll find nothing in there that suggests anything about religion.

And to Hevs, I won't make a big deal out of this, I'd rather not. If you read my other answers, you'll see I laugh at all kinds of jokes, and not once have I said anything that makes me look like a religious nut!

And I did reply, although my response was a little harsh. It wasn't racist though.

oh, one other thing, if I was to laugh at a joke ridiculing Islam, people would assume it was just for show - they'd assume it was to show that I'm not a hypocrite.

But if I found a joke about ANY religion funny, I would laugh. In fact, religion in itself makes a great base for humour.

And the joke that I laughed at doesn't actually ridicule Christianity or Catholicism, what made it funny was that a religious figure would think of a dirty word. If that joke contained an Imam instead of a Pope, the joke would still have the same meaning and I would still have laughed!

Well Christians have little to do with the Pope who is Catholic for a start. So this guy is probably deliberately trying to get up your nose. I wouldn't worry about it.

Edit: By the way, if you reply, I bet he will read it. He's only saying he deletes them because he is scared of what you will say back. What he has said so far counts as racism and harrassment. He could get his collar felt by the police if you really wanted to do something about it.

Extra edit: Thanks for the message, you don't need to take my advice; I'm just pointing out your options, so am not offended. Having looked at the question I reckon he has no right to say what he said to you. Sounds like this is just a person who gets a kick out of annoying other people. Sad but true. Let's hope he reads these posts!
