My Akita Ran Away Last Night..........................?!

Question:

My Akita Ran Away Last Night.......................

From 6:30 - 11:00 I searched for him. On the beach, In the woods and across fields. When I did finally find him he ran away from me into the woods and I could not find him again. We then had a major thunder and lightening storm. At 11:00 it was too dark to continue searching to I stayed up until 2:30 am in case he came home. He did not. We got a phone call from the police this afternoon (after I had spent another four hours looking for him) saying he was in someone's garden. I went and picked him up. His whole appearance has changed, physcially and mentally. For the first time I am wary of him. (Strange) Hopefully he will be back to himself in a couple of days. Anyway - The Question: Owning a dog takes real commitment and personal self sacrifice do you have a story that shows your love and self sacrifice for your dog. I love to hear it....
