Land Puzzle?!
Question:
Land Puzzle?
My teacher gave us this puzzle to solve and it gotten quite frustrating.
There is land that must be equally and symmetrically divided among a farmer's four sons. The plot is 8x8 squares with a twist.
On the fourth column going down four rows there are 4 trees and each must son must have at least one tree. The trees are located on the following squares:
(1, 4)
(2, 4)
(3, 4)
(4, 4)
The trickiest part for us is that each division must be equal in size 'and' shape. Maybe you've heard of it before, but I haven't.
And I'm sure you can all do it on your own however you want, but I'm looking for someone who can actually show me how it's done. Good Luck.

...Oh, and the divisions must be whole, no cut ups. Sorry for making it harder, but that's just what it is.
Answers:
1 1 1 1 1 1 1 4
2 2 2 2 2 2 1 4
2 3 3 3 3 2 1 4
2 3 4 4 3 2 1 4
2 3 4 1 2 2 1 4
2 3 4 1 1 1 1 4
2 3 4 4 4 4 4 4
2 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
I knew that thre had to be some really long runs of land for each son and that there would have to be a U shape in order to give each piece of land the possibility of reaching a tree. I actually did the outside edge of the puzzle first, giving each son a line of seven squares and then figured out a way to get the each to a tree.
