Sorry, know nothing about the Mars square Venus but I know someone with Mercury square Ascendant!. They do come off as insulting when really they're not, they stutter too and mix up what they're trying to say!. They jumped to conclusions a lot and people misunderstood them!. But they had good intentions!.
They overcame the Mercury square Ascendant through taking the time to think before she spoke so she knew exactly how to say things!. When she spoke her expressions gave off an insulting vibe as well, although she doesn't realise it!. Since you have Mercury square Ascendant you might have Mercury conjunct Midheaven!.!.focus on that conjunction, and act more like that!. Don't focus on squaresWww@Enter-QA@Com

Well, in that case with Venus conjunct Neptune and Mars square Pluto, I'd be very socially awkward ^_^
I'd say social "awkwardness" is a combination of the sun, moon, rising, that which is in the 1st house (self, as opposed to the 7th - rest of the world) and perhaps the 11th house (social circles, larger social groups)

I would not go as far as to say that I'm socially awkward because I'm not really!. There was a time I was during puberty but that was the really only time!. I felt uncomfortable in my own skin!.
In many places in my chart, it says I am very outgoing and sociable!. That is very true!.!. only when I'm around certain people!.
I'm not really afraid to speak in front of people!.
Now, my Saturn is in the 11th House, which makes me reserved!.!.!. Sometimes I am reserved!.
In short, sometimes I'm distant and reserved while other times I'm friendly and sociable!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
