Without a doubt I would say that Chiron in the 7th is one of the major factors in relation to your question, although I would not use the word luck!.

He has to make some changes in how he chooses his loves!. He has been choosing for the wrong reason, he is stubborn about it, and always ends up unhappy!. He does not see the truth in this, and if he does not change it will continue!. There are control issues involved here!. Ask him this, and ask him to be honest: what are you attracted to in a woman!?
