In what way does sidereal astrology differ from tropical astrology?!

Question: In what way does sidereal astrology differ from tropical astrology!?
I understand that the difference of interpretation is placed on the equinox!.!.!.

However, many people find that the tropical zodiac is very accurate!.!.!.many people find that sidereal zodiac is very accurate!.

I've been raised in western society, so I know I have serious biases!.!.!.

Are there any important aspects that sidereal astrology disregards in tropical astrology that I should really be aware of!?

For example!.!.!.in Tropical astrology I'm a Capricorn!. In sidereal astrology, I'm a Sagittarius!. I find that to be a big deal!.!.!.

Thanks!.

I think you already read my article at: http://www!.vicdicara!.com/articles/Unders!.!.!. But let me reiterate several important points that maybe you overlooked or didn't give sufficient weight to:

You say "many people find that the tropical zodiac is very accurate!.!.!.many people find that sidereal zodiac is very accurate" - the point is that the sidereal zodiac is astroNOMICALLY accurate!. This does not in itself say anything about the accuracy of the interpretations or predictions it affords!

In the article, I explain (!.!.!. oh no!.!.!. it's in a different article apparently: http://www!.vicdicara!.com/answers/vedic_z!.!.!. ): "Western Astrology has lived with the inaccuracy for many centuries and along the way developed a system of aspect interpretation that minimizes the negative effects of the inaccuracies in their zodiac calculations!."

You ask if Sidereal astrology disregards certain aspects!. There are four main schools of Vedic (Sidereal) Astrology

- Parashar
- Jaimini
- Tajik
- Brighu

Of these Tajik has an aspect system quite similar to the modern western aspect system!. Jaimini has a system where the actual constellations cast aspects to each other!. Parashar (the most prevelant, and the school of which I am a member) has a rather simple aspect system that is quite different from western aspects!. It would take a short time to learn!.

You say, "In Tropical astrology I'm a Capricorn!. In sidereal astrology, I'm a Sagittarius!. I find that to be a big deal!.!.!."

You are talking about your Sun sign, right!? Even in Western astrology you should give more preference to your ascendant sign!. The Sun sign simply became popular because it's easy to calculate from the date of birth alone!.

In either the Western or the Vedic system it is very important, IMO, to learn that the emphasis on "signs" is a pop-astrology influence that has little merit for the serious practice of astrology!. The signs are merely the playing fields for the planets!.

Thus the fact that one system says you are Sign A, and another says you are Sign B is NOT as important as it sounds!. You will find that if you follow either system through with skill you will arrive at similar or even identical conclusions!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Planet Earth wobbles along its axis as it turns around the sun!. Tropical astrology doesn't take that "wobble" into account and uses mathematical calculation (30 degrees) to calculate your sign!. So it doesn't really change depending on what year you're born in; if you were born on 1/1/1080 or 1/1/2080, you'd be considered a capricorn!.

Sidereal astrologists apparently do take that "wobble" into account, as well as the fact that every year is not necessarily "365 days"!. Sidereal Astrology actually aligns a bit better with the night sky, so that on your sidereal birthday, if you're a capricorn, then you'd see capricorn in the sky!.

sidereal astrology is also used by Indian astrologists (who do not use outer planets past saturn), so in Indian astrology, they'd say you were a leo, not virgo!.

sidereal astrology provides a bit different description in terms of what that means, but just as tropical, sun, moon, mars, venus, mercury in this are just as important; it's just a different system!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
