I think that really depends on the argument!. What are they arguing about!? Is it an intellectual debate!? An emotional meeting of wills!? What is the relationship between the two!?
Both are powerful contenders, but I'd say Sag intellectually dominates while Scorpio wins the emotional battles!. They can each land a good punch!.
That's not to say Scorpios aren't smart (they are), but a Sag loves a good meeting of minds--whether it's a discussion or a heated debate!. They're good at targeting a weak argument and finding creative ways to make their POV seem right!.
And Sagittarians can be emotional--but a Scorpio knows the psychology of getting to someone through their feelings while Sag can be naive and a clumsy on that front!. They know how to hit where it hurts, and yet they're covert about it!.
Sagittarians biggest weakness is that they'll quickly give something up if it irritates them or makes them feel trapped!. They can be stubborn and proud, but they'll abandon an argument that seems to be going nowhere!.

the scorpio would be all mad and intense but the saggitarius also has his witty and philosophical comebacks, and trust me they hold nothing back, words that can easily hurt a scorpio!.
now when all is said and done, the next thing you know the scorpio would be like: hey, hey, *poking the sag* and the sag would be talking to someone else by then lol

Wooo!!! Just thinking about my answer to this question has me ready to call up this Scorpio who has been trying to argue with me telling me how I am and how I'm not!. I know who I am, I do not need "Mr!. I should be a detective because I hold so many secrets surely everyone I come into contact with holds just as many so I must figure them out" trying to tell me who I am!. I am exactly who I tell you I am, because I have nothing to hide!. I am private with my emotions, but I am not lying about who I am, nor will I ever lie!. End of argument!. Anything you say after this will get you slapped with a bitter, sarcastic, remark!. Don't cry though, I would really hate to see you drown in all of those miserable tears!.
I mean he should have known it was coming, I do have my Mars in Scorpio, I can argue just like he can, but better, because I have a way of detaching myself from the situation (I am half animal/half human, after all) and running away wildly acting as though nothing happened or I don't care!. Plus, I'm naturally intuitive (and I have Mercury in Scorpio) so I can get underneath what he's saying (onto what he's not saying) to attack him even further!.
Basically, Scorpio might be more vengeful, but Sagittarius can get away with it because they are honest in the moment and don't hold the grudge that makes them seem immature and bitter!. We argue with fact, and logic, not emotions!. Emotions change, facts do not ;)
