You are classed as born when you are completely out of your mothers body!.
This is due to the fact that not all babies breathe when they are born and are taken to intensive care etc but they do start breathing later!.
They don't consider you born when your mothers waters break either because some waters break days before contractions start and some don't break until the baby is just about to the born!. It's the same really for the contractions because these can start days before the baby is born!.
