Escapism runs hand in hand with fear?!
Question: Escapism runs hand in hand with fear!?
What are your thoughts on this!?
I ask because I recently answered a question asked about us going into another great depression!. A contact of mine answered that people are still spending money foolishly (gaming systems, DVD players, discs, etc!.) on seemingly meaningless things when we're obviously in a recession right now!.
Then I started thinking about his answer and it led me to the conclusion that perhaps this frivolous spending is triggered by the fear of the loss of control of money you have invested in the markets, and just the fear of the economy at this time!. I was thinking that people will spend on things that will help them escape the reality (DVD's, games) and seriousness surrounding economical issues right now, and that escapism is a result of fear!. They spend what money they do have control over (probably in a regular savings account) because they have no control over the larger market here!.

yeah I agree with that phrase, but it also has its advantages
on the other sides defense -we also escape to clear our heads, to experience what we can have or to understand what we have lost, but too much of it for someone who cant handle it is always bad!.

Humm i don't know what's the reason of people spending money on useless things, what you said is right but maybe they are just thinking in achieving all the things that they want before the depression comes and block their possibilities of achieving them!.

I don't agree!.
Sometimes bad situations encourage people who already are hard on themselves to loosen up!.
It's kinda like the phrase "turn lemons into lemonade"
some people do things when bad things happen because they get more bold when they have nothing to lose!.!.feel me!?
Instead of having a defeatus attitude, they adopt the "hey, what the hell" attitude and just go for it!.
like some people only speak up for themselves when they're mad, it's the same situation!. Sometimes when people are against the wall, that's when they are truely liberated because in their heads, if you've already lost everything, losing a little more is nothing!.
If you've lost everything, you have nothing to lose!. And if you have nothing to lose, you have EVERYTHING to gain!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
