I think that it is because we represent ego,big life and attention!.
The sun is in the middle of our Solar System,it's big and it's the attention-grabber,like Leos!.
Leo is the lion,the king of the jungle and of the zodiac,is the center of attention,and is bright and shiny at almost all times just like the sun!.
The sun is big,and it represents a big,huge ego,but also a big,huge heart!.
