I would give the example that just as there are doctors who may have misdiagnosed & mistreated a problem, there are astrologers who can do the same thing!. I would validate the concern about a bad experience having an effect on the trust of further exposure to a particular subject and gently offer the suggestion of a second opinion!.
It is too bad that there isn't a oversight Board of Astrologers that can address ethical violations, and it is too bad that there is not a code of ethics in place to insure professional behavior by astrologers!. Because of this absence in this field, you increase the risk of further harm if the second opinon astrologer is also a flake!.

I would encourage them to get a second opinion!. The other day, a friend of mine had a bad time with his urologist!. He has had a kidney stone for three months, and the urologist is tried one crush treatment that didn't work!. Other than that, he's addicting my friend to pain pills and wearing down his immunity!. The good doc does not feel it's unethical to keep taking in thousands of dollars from my friend and his insurance!. I told him it's time for a second opinion!.
