You will find some explanations vary - better to read several different sources!. Each house represents the signs sequentially (but there are some variations to this)!. Example - first house Aries is the natural ruler and the areas this house govern are similiar or symbolic of Aries "Me first" - It is the first thing people see about you, how you present yourself and your physical body!.
Either way, once you get that down - remember the planets are the actors, the signs the parts they play and the houses are the stages ;)

Okay, here it is as simplified and short as possible!. There are 12
houses each signifying certain specific areas in ones life, like one represents money, one friends, one family, etc!. When you are born,
the planets are in a certain position, or are in different houses, putting
a emphasis on what ever that house represents!. Does that sorta
explain it better!? Hope so!.!.!.!.!.!

PLANENTS only indicate relative position of sun at the time of ones birth
PLANENTS SIGNIFYING sections or triangles etc only indicate attributes stats wise pertaining to human activity
ie mind ,fin
love

friends/enemies
and illnesses/like death

they do not take care of present circs/heredity/environments
