let it go!. I was at this same delimma just a couple of weeks ago!. Revenge is bittersweet, because the excitement of doing it is the climax, but once it's done, it's like "is that all", and remember what you do will always come back to you!. always!. and once that revolution comes full swing, it is gonna hit you twice as hard, I promise!. What he did does sound like a legal matter, and you can def!. take him to court!. The one thing you can do is put him on blast, and that's not revenge because all you're doing is stating to ppl what he did, and that is the truth, so they'll know about his character more and probably end up losing respect for him!. I'm the type that will let things go as long as your didn't hurt me physically or emotionally!. But in this case I would let it go!. Besides he'll either need you again or end up feeling like crap at some point and then you can tell him where to go!.But if there is anyway you can make him give you the money he owes than do it!. There are three open way!. First just forget about rent and continue with your friendship!. Second never forget this deed from him and cut all the relations with him/her!. Third just gather all the proofs and document and sue him/her and fight till you win!.
All these options depands on which sign you have!.
Most probably if you are Aris, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn you will take the third the hars action and you will win, it is notmally seen in Char or movable sign tendancy!.!. I understand the desire for revenge, with my Scorpio moon, trust me, I've thought about revenge!. The truth is, it's NEVER actually satisfying!. Isn't there a middle!? Like the above comment, isn't there a legal matter at stake!?
In the end, there have been many matters that I've had to just let go, just because IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO and I realize I'm the one with INTEGRITY and they are not!.
