Here's my take:
All of your lives contain lessons you have chosen, to help your "soul" grow and evolve!.
If you do not work through any given lesson in a particular life, you will return to try the same lesson in a different way!. These are not "punishments" or "curses!." These are lessons you have chosen!. You will take the lesson as often as needed until you learn it!. And you have many opportunities in any one life to learn the lesson, so it's not like each life has only one chance to learn it!.
also, I believe you do not have to keep returning life after life for the same lesson!. Let's say you have chosen ten lessons to learn through all of your lives!. Well, if you don't learn lesson one, you might go on in your next life to lessons two or three, and maybe return to lesson one several lives later!.
Sometimes you may stretch one lesson over a few lives, if it's a big lesson and you want to learn all the sides of it!.
As a very very simple example, suppose you want to learn all about money!? Maybe in one life you will be rich, another life dirt poor, and maybe a third life running a charity to help re-distribute wealth!. They could all be different aspects of the same lesson!.

Like they'll probably have a whole new different life from before but can somehow relate to the things they did from the past and that maybe the reason why we get deja Vu's!? Other than that, the whole thing is called incarnation!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think the question is asked in the correct manner!.
The theory behind it is that you repeat issues that have been unresolved in the prior life!. As you go through lifetimes, you gain knowledge and understanding to help escalate your soul's potential!.

they dont really repeat themselves!. you have a totally different life then you did last time!.
but for example if you drowned and died in the ocean in a previous life, then in your next life you will be scared to go in the water but not know why!. thats how it works!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't!. It all depends if you learned the lesson you were supposed to learn!. If you didn't learn or made a mistake then you will relive the previous life again in a similar situation!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
