Why to follow western astrology or vedic astrology?!

Question: Why to follow western astrology or vedic astrology!?
Answers:
About 2,000 years ago the two systems - vedic and western - were the same!.!.!. at that point western astrologers decided to mark the zodiac by solstices and equinoxes!. Thus you have "Tropic of Cancer" and "Tropic of Capricorn" because in the summer (june 21) the sun was vertical at a certain northern latitude, while rising in CANCER!. And in the winder (dec 21) the sun was vertical at a certain southern latitude, while rising in CAPRICORN!.

Thus the western Zodiac is called "Tropical" because since that time it was no longer based on the actual constellations, but rather upon the CALCULATION of those constellations in reference to the solstices and equinoxes!.

However, the Earth doesn't sit perfectly still while she spins!.!. she wobbles a bit!. Thus what happens over centuries, is that you get a "Procession of Equinoxes" which changes what Western astrologers call the "Ages", Age of Pisces, Age of Aquarius, etc!. But really what happens is that over time, at the Summer Solstice the sun is no longer rising in cancer, because the entire zodiac relative to the earth is shifting retrograde due to the earth's wobble!. Over 2,000 years this has amounted to about 23o of arc, almost an entire SIGN!!!

Thus on the summer solstice today, the sun is factually in Gemini, not Cancer!. Etc!.

This is why Western astrology has become increasingly inaccurate over the centuries and why they have tried to develop so many new techniques and factors to compensate: a bazillion types of angles and squares, and all these outer planets, comets, moons, etc!.

The side-real Zodiac is what Eastern astrologers use, which simply makes direct reference to the constellations and stars themselves, and thus does not lose accuracy!.

Besides the difference in Zodiac there are three crucial astrological factors that only Vedic Astrology posseses:

1) "Nakshatras" - the 27 stars of the zodiac, which divide the signs into smaller divisions and provide a good deal of refinement to interpretation

2) "Vargas" or "divisional charts" - Vedic astrology creates "harmonic divisions" of the birth chart, by slicing each sign into 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 12, 16, 20, 24, 30, and 64 divisions, and creating new charts based on those divisions - which are then used to supplement the birth chart and provide additional detailed information on specific areas!.

3) "Dashas" or planetary periods!. Vedic astrology is PREDICTIVE because it outlines the schedule during which the planets in the birth chart will exert their strongest influence!. Thus Vedic astrology does not just tell you WHAT is going to affect you, but will also tell you WHEN it's going to affect you!.

I should also mention that the entire concept of Reincarnation and Karma - upon which Astrology rests - is an Indian / Hindu / Vedic concept!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hi All-do

I have been in western astrology for ages, well actually, only 20 years!. But, somehow, I show aninterest in Vedic and will start looking into it!.
Can't be worse than a Chinese cook learning to cook Greek, Italian, or Russian cuisine!. Fire is fire, an oven is an oven and food is food!.

It's in the preparation!. I respect both and do not claim to know Vedic for now!.

edit!.!.!.Vic, Western astrology does and can predict the most fertile time a planet is at its maximum just like Dasha in Vedic!. also, Western astrology does deal with Harmonics in the chart!. It's just that you won't see this on YAHOO!. Too advanced for the average person here!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There are very large differences because Vedic Astrology is sidereal based while Western Astrology is tropical based!.
The difference is nicely described by Wikipedia:
