as you already asked examples of what one would consider to be heroism , I guess you already know there are different definitions on the matter!.
Heres my take on it
I define a hero as someone who has a particularly strong influence on a large number of people on a particular matter in a fixed period of time!. Say if the economy on the large scale was hitting rock bottom, anyone who stands out and be able to revive it back up, by any means , could be deemed a hero!. But past that time and onto another generation, he might not be a hero anymore!.
Living in a macho society like today would indicate that people who have strong sun, mars , saturn and pluto placements and aspects would be more likely to be considered a hero !. This is because they might likely to have a strong leadership ability to!.!.!.!.of course lead others!. But One's hero is another's ordinary jerk :D because one could be admired and idolised by hundreds of thousands of people, but for example, in his family's eyes, he is nothing than a reckless and irresponsible man!.
Personally, I have no idol and I idealise no one , and I never have!. But I could say my mom was my hero , she was an ordinary woman leading an ordinary life , she was a sag sun, mercury, venus aquarius!.!.!.however her mars in cancer meant that she put a lot of her energy into bringing up a family , her son-me!. Thats pretty heroic , i think!.
As for signs and placements , as I said above, a strong sun,mars,saturn and pluto in their natural houses , especially 1th , 5th and 10th are able to lead and leave their marks in the society !. However, I personally think everyone is someone's hero and everyone is someone's nobody!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

each sign has its positive qualities!. for instance if you have a sun in leo you might say that person has strong leadership qualities and unwavering loyalty!.!. both found in heroic personalities!. you could also say a person with an aries sun is strongly apt to face challenges and fight until they have achieved their goal!.!.(heroic qualities) then you could say a person with a sun in pisces has the sensitivity to understand the situation (or person) at hand and be able to make fair decisions!.!. upholding justice!. (heroic quality)

I would consider an act of heroism to be anything which someone does which is of assistance to another or others who cannot help themselves in a certain situation, sometimes at risk of personal harm to the individual who is acting in a heroic way!.
I think for a hero, you need compassion and concern for others, leadership qualities, and strong principles which the individual sticks to!.
I think that I'll have to ponder astrological aspects though Janet!.!.!.!.there are too many ways that I'm seeing right now and I need to narrow it down!. Be back later:)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Heroism is an act voluntarily without thinking in regards to safety!.!.!. In other words a person will sacrifice his life inorder to save someone, in a very dangerous circumstances such as in combat, trapped in a dangerous fire, drowning, or any other dangerous incidents!.!.!.Someone that is not affraid to help even when his life is in danger!.!.!.!.
