Technically though on a chart you will either see :AC or ASC for
Ascendant!. (1st house)!.
The opposite will be DC (descendant) for the 7th house!.

The Ascendant is the degree that is on the horizon at birth!. The sign is the sign on the horizon at birth!. So if 15 Leo is on the horizon at the birth moment, the ascendant is 15 Leo!. The rising sign is Leo!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Rising come from the fact that it's the degree rising on the Eastern horizon at the instant you are born!. But they mean the same thing, it's just that ascendant is a more technical word for rising!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
