Answers:
There are 4 terms to be considered - 2 positive (natural ruler, exalted) & 2 negative (detriment & fall)!.

When a planet is in found in the sign which it naturally rules over i!.e!. the Home sign, its traits naturally become positively highlighted as the energies of the sign and traits of the planet blend harmoniously and complement each other e!.g!. Moon in Cancer, Sun in Leo etc

This is similar to a planet being exalted in another sign, whose energies seem to blend well with that particular planet, either by giving it staying power, determination or manifesting, strengthening the traits of that particular planet!. The planet and sign work harmoniously in partnership, much like what trines and sextiles do in aspects!. E!.g!. Moon is exalted in Taurus because as a celestial body with fluctuating moods, Taurus adds stability and groundedness to an otherwise unstable planetary influence!.

On the other hand, when a planet is in its detriment, it is OPPOSITE its natural ruler!. This is considered a challenging and difficult position because the planet's traits do not blend too well with the opposing traits of the sign it rules!. E,!.g Sun in Aquarius is detriment as opposed to its ruling position in Leo, because the Sun represents individualism, Ego & Aquarius being a humanitarianistic sign which puts group & social concerns over its own needs, does not integrate the Sun traits easily!. This is the weak winter Sun that hardly is able to warm the earth as compared to the Sun in Leo!.

Similarly, a planet is said to be in its fall position when it is opposite the exalted sign!. Again, this works on the same theory as the detriment!. The sign opposite the exalted sign does not blend easily with the planet's traits because of conflicting forces at work here!. E!.!.g!. Moon in Scorpio is fall, opposed to exalted Moon in Taurus, because instead of focusing on the simple, sensual, material comforts in the emotional realm, there is excessive intensity, secrecy and possessiveness associated with this sign, which ultimately results in obsessive, manipulative and self-destructive tendencies where emotions are concerned!.

Below is a list of the planetary fall / detriment position

Sun - fall in Libra, Detriment in Aquarius
Moon - fall in Scorpio, detriment in Capricorn
Mercury - dall in Sagittarius & Pisces
Mars - fall in Cancer, detriment in Libra
Venus - detriment in Aries, Scorpio
Jupiter - fall in Capricorn, detriment in Gemini
Saturn - fall in Aries, detriment in Cancer & LeoWww@Enter-QA@Com
