Being in nearly the same position myself (sun/sat & pluto in scorp, rising/merc/uranus & venus/neptune in sag, jupi & mars in cap) I too feel less like a scorpio!. More like a sagittarius, in fact!. But like all the others said; it doesn't *make* you less of a scorpio - I'm often surprised at how much I really am like a scorpio, despite all my sagittarius influence!.

But I know that, first off all, you *need* to be born in the northern hemisphere!. If your born in the south, then everything is reverse!. For example a scorpio would be 6 signs back!.
