Whoever gave Janet a TD couldn't beat a tadpole in a game of jeopardy!. Seriously some people are cruel lol!.

Well I gotta agree, I've never heard of mutual reception between houses, it's only refered in relation to signs!. But true, I suppose they might have validity!. Why not!? Makes sense!.

I think the reason why coincides with the difference in what planets and houses represent and mean!. Planets are energies and express how we act and what we do, they are characteristics we express!. Houses of course pertain to areas of life, all 12 make up the region of "life"!. Still, the reason this seems to make sense is because if two areas of life mesh together and "act on each other" as with mutual reception planets, that seems plausible!. I mean, think about it: it happens and we see it in people!. People combine areas of life!. I'll take Janet's example of having jupiter in mutual reception with mercury!. That would indeed help ground the detrimental side of mercury in sag because jupiter is helping mercury, acting with it as a friend or assistant, just as her mercury assists jupiter!. Give and take basically, almost like a conjunction!. So, let's use houses instead shall we!? Jupiter rules the 9th house, mercury the 3rd and 6th!. So, let's say we see someone with jupiter in the 6th, mercury in the 9th!. House mutual reception basically!. We could, following the same principles as with planets, say that this person combines spirituality, higher mind, ideals, and travel (among some other 9th house things of course) with work and health!. Now, not to say this person travels alot for career, because there comes in the 10th house!. So, someone not well studied in astrology might say "so their career is travel-related right!?" Well, possibly but this doesn't suggest it!.

We would think more of the fact that since the 6th also deals with how we are of service to others, perhaps this person may try to be of "religious" or "spiritual" service to others!? Then, combining more terms, maybe they travel to help their health!? Sort of like, a retreat!. Perhaps traveling uplifts their health!. You could toss around meanings of both houses!. In your case, the 11th and 3rd houses!. The 11th is friends and social circles, also deals with humanitarian events and attempts to help others!. The 3rd is communications, siblings, neighbors, and intellect!. also, less commonly but still relevantly, short journeys!. So, one could say perhaps you take short journeys to help others!? Or also, that your friends are like family since the 3rd is siblings; they are like your brothers and sisters!. Another thing, perhaps you combine social events in with your communication style!. In other words, your best conversations occur with friends and during humanitarian events rather than family or teachers, etc!.

Toss around some ideas and play with meanings!. It will get easier man trust me!. You're a smart guy :DWww@Enter-QA@Com

Mutual Reception gives an exchange status so that the planet is enabled to follow two interests, or to change to another department if he or she so desires, and especially in order to get around difficulties or out of interception interfering with his or her progress as a person in their own right

Any planet in mutual reception brings changes for the better in the life!.
Any progressed aspect to these two planets , you would read s though they were back in their own sign!.

As for the house relation, it is obvious that the areas affected will be where these two planets are!. The houses are not in reception but they will be involved as to where this reception will operate in life!. You can't disregard this just like you can't disregard any planets in any house!. The fact that a house contains a planet is vitally important and its depositor!.

As for your Mercury in Leo & Uranus in Sagittarius, you read and interpret them as if each was in its own sign but, not forgetting where the exchange status occurs in the area of life!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I wasn't aware that mutual reception was in relation to houses as well as signs and planets, but I guess that could be considered!. In the example that you provide, I don't really see / understand the mutual reception!. I think (not sure) that when you throw houses into the picture, it is called something other than mutual reception!.

I have a mutual reception between Jupiter and Mercury - I thank my lucky stars for this one:
Jupiter is in Virgo (Jupiter is naturally the ruler of Sag) and Mercury is in Sag (Mercury is naturally the ruler of Virgo)!. I am particulary grateful for this because of mercury!. It helps me bring into focus and look at details which mercury in Sag would never see w/out the mutual reception!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The definition of a mutual reception is two planets each in a sign of the other's rulership!. It has nothing to do with houses!. Mercury in Aries and Mars in Gemini is a mutual reception!. Mercury is in the domicile of Mars; Mars is in the domicile of Mercury!.

You can have a mutual reception by exaltation: Venus in Cancer the exaltation of Jupiter and Jupiter in Pisces the exaltation of Venus!. The ancient and medieval astrologers used what are erroneously called today "mixed receptions:" Saturn in Pisces the exaltation of Venus; Venus in Capricorn the domicile of Saturn!.

Some of the early medieval astrologers used mutual reception by detriment!. For example Janis Joplin has Jupiter in Cancer the detriment of Saturn and Saturn in Gemini, the detriment of Jupiter!.

In all cases the planets feed off each other!. Using Joplin's chart her 5th house (parties good times) exalted (excess) Jupiter fed her depression (Saturn ruled her ASC); and her depression (Saturn) fed her excesses (exalted Jupiter in the 5th)!. They cycle continued until she died!.

I've never heard of houses in connection with mutual reception!. The 11th (in modern astrology "ruled" by Uranus) and 3rd ("ruled" by Mercury) would not be considered a mutual reception in any sense since there is no real connection like there is with sign rulership!. In fact, the whole planet=sign=house is based on some pretty weak thinking!. It was developed only in the 20th century as an easy way to help students remember rulerships, but once the student is past the beginner's stage it is less workable and probably should be dropped!. Mars is the traditional ruler of the 3rd and Venus of the 11th, There has to be a mutual connection or dispositorship for mutual reception and that is lacking in the houses!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
