Answers:
Interesting, two of the three people who know nothing about astrology, and think it has no value answer this question by demonstrating they know nothing about astrology and saying astrology is bunk!. Working hard to close the circle of their arguments!.

The other answer above is partly correct!. The systems developed as ongoing refinement or at least the people who developed the various house systems thought that way!.

All house systems have the Ascendant and the MC in the same place!. It is the other cusps that vary!. Some systems are based on time (Placidus, Alcabitius)) some systems are based on the birthplace (Koch), some are based on divisions of the ecliptic (Equal House, Porphry) some are based on space (Regiomontanus, Campanus)!. The ancient Greeks used what we call "Whole Sign houses!." The entire sign is a house and the angles are sensitive points!.

Each house system is an attempt to improve on results!. They go in and out of favor with astrologers and many astrologers waste time and effort trying to persuade anyone who will listen why their system is the only one that works!. These types usually end up with no friends!.

All the quadrant systems (Placidus, Koch, Alcabitius, Regiomontanus etc) have a fatal flaw!. They all break down at extreme latitudes!. If you cast a chart for far enough north, you can have the MC conjunct the ASC!. Fortunately no one lives that far north (or south)!. The 17th century astrologer Jean Baptiste Morin developed a house system that didn't break down at extreme latitudes and named it after himself (Morinus System)!. He is never known to have used it!. Hey he lived in France!. He didn't need to use it!.

Currently the most popular system is probably Placidus!. Most horary astrologers use Regiomontanus!.

Why hasn't anyone demonstrated the superiority of one house system over all the others!? Actually that's a fair question, and it doesn't follow that there is no answer!. The main reason is that there probably is no way to do just that!. If anyone is thinking "statistics," that won't work either!. "Anyone can prove (or disprove) anything with statistics" is trite but true!. Assuming a valid statistical test could be developed, after the way Gauquelin was treated when he used statistics that came close to validating at least some of astrology's tenets, the scientists who did not want to believe him rigged their own statistical tests to "prove" him wrong!. Oh yeah I'd trust their integrity!.

In most cases house systems don't produce seriously different results for the same chart!. Find one that suits you and stick with it for a while!. After some time, then switch to see if your results vary!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The reason why there are so many different House systems used in Astrology is because some astrologers try to take into consideration those individuals who are born far away from the equator, namely close to the North & South Poles!.

2 of the most impt aspects to be considered in the chart are the Ascendant & MC whi are exactly at right angles (90 deg apart)!. On the Equator, the Asc & MC will always be at right angles to eahc other but the further one goes to the North or South, the angle will vary drastically!.

It is important to understand that even though the house cusps are irregular in these other systems, the space they represent is regular!. This is because although the chart is presented on flat paper, it is in fact a three dimensional sphere!.

The most popular House systems are as follows: -

Equal House System
To 'correct' the problem, the oldest and most popular form of Hose system - the Equal House System - is most often used!. Every House is divided into 30 degs and once the starting point is always the Ascendant!. Once it's calculated,
one simply divides the rest of the chart using the Ascending degree as a starting point!.

Placidus House System
This is an unequal house system!. Depending on the latitude used, a Placidus chart may have entire signs contained in a house, known as intercepted signs!. As with most unequal systems, charts drawn for higher latitudes often have houses that are either very small or very large, with houses being more "equal" in size, the closer to the equator the latitude for the chart is!.

Koch House System
This is a relatively new unequal House System used to generate the most accurate house cusps, especially for forecast timing using planet transits to the natal chart!. It is becoming more popular with astrologers inr ecent years!.

To sum up, the difference between the various house systems is mainly the actual degree and minute on the house cusps according to the Tables of Houses used to generate the calculations!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It is probably a result of endless refinement!. That is, that as more things come to light, like new planets or other bodies there arises a requirement for an excuse, hence house systems or whatever might be trotted out!.

Fact is, yon astrology is bunk and best avoided, certainly not a thing to be wasting money upon!. So whatever differences are about don't really matter a damn as it's not real!. It has been scientifically demonstrated to be false and this as you can see was from an experiment that the best astrology had to offer participated in conducted by Shawn Carlson!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The reason is (Please forgive me) the day a person is born has nothing to do with their personality!. Horoscopes are no more real than reading tea leaves, tarot cards, lines on your hands, crystal balls, Ouija Boards, Santa or the Tooth Fairy!.
Sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, just real!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

astrology is complicated and much isnt known from it, so people developed different theoriesWww@Enter-QA@Com
