Yes, on a cursory level, it is the 6th house - over and over, I see it!. And, if there is an aspect between the 6th and 8th house, you can kind of get an idea of the nature of what the death will be!. For example, I have Capricorn (rules skin, bones and teeth) on the cusp of the 6th house!. I have fair skin, and I am always getting sunburned!. Thank goodness - bones are intact (knock on wood)!. There are no aspects to the 8th house so I do not believe that melanoma will be my death certificate (sorry if I sound bluntly morbid - just an example!.)
I just finished reading a book, "Signs of Mental Illness" by Mitchell E!. Gibson, M!.D!. He is a psychiatrist and an astrologer!. He has come up with formulas (markers) for predicting certain psychiatric diagnoses based on a number of indices including aspects, parallels, contraparallels, hidex, exdek, grand elevations, etc!. It is fascinating, especially when you see the graphs correlated so closely in certain celebrities (e!.g!. Princess Diana - major depression) or the clinical description & history of some of his patients' symptoms!.
Edit: Oh yes, after reading the other answers - the 12th house (on a cursory level also) can indicates a certain focus with mental health!.
I'm back!. I don't think enough studies have been done to fairly evaluate medical astrology!. Medical Astrology books have been written mostly by Astrologers, but I do not think that Astrology is accepted in modern medicine as something to be considered seriously!. I believe Chainlightnings answers are an example of how much credibility is given to medical astrology - at least that has been my experience!. I personally give it a lot of credibility, but interpretations vary so much from Astrologer - Astrologer that it fails the test of reliability; a scientifc factor which is paramount in medicine for something to be considered credible!. also, even if medical astrology could be verified, what does that change in terms of treatment!? I think that Astrology may be more easily accepted in the area of psychiatry where many conditions of the mind can not be assessed with mechanical, chemical scientific tools!. It is mostly a clinical judgment based on symptoms!. Exceptions, of course, would be Bi-polar disorder (lithium imbalance) traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer's disease which can be seen in CAT scans!.
Anyway, it has been many years since I worked in hospitals, but I do remember well that in L&D, there would be a rash of premature labor patients during a drop in barometric pressure!. Full moons were usually busy times in the ER, 1st qtr!. moons brought in more psychiatric emergencies - it was too much of a coincidence in my mind to see patterns repeated every month for there not to be some greater explanation!. Why 3 codes in one night, why quiet another night, why mostly GSW victims another, and blunt trauma patients another!? I quietly recorded these things in my mind because speaking of an astrological connection only got blank and sometimes worried looks!. I might be wrong, but I do not think much has changed over the years!. It is somewhat liberating to have found this group of friends with whom I can discuss Astrology w/out fear of ridicule!.

Without grabbing my books, I will first tell you that what comes to mind is an emotional desire to work and heal!. You receive great emotional satisfaction from caring for others in a deep and sympathetic manner!. Again, this is a beautiful placement for you working towards a medical doctorate!. My husband has his moon in the 6th house - he is a workaholic!. He would literally die if he didn't have work!. His moon is Leo so it is ego-satisfying for him - more self-serving!. My take on medical astrology is it's interesting, but hard to work with!. I have minimal experience w/it!. Just researched it one time way back when!.!.!.
I don't believe it is used much in the allopathic medical field! No way!. Even in the alternative field, just a bit, a few scattered souls!.

My knowledge of medical astrology, like yours, is VERY VERY limited!. I don't want to form an opinion about the topic yet, until I learn much more about it!. I would love to learn more about it, partly because it might shed light on certain interesting events (e!.g!. a person who hardly gets sick or has accidents, having their left foot hurt in an accident three times in three years, each year in the same month during summer - and yes, that actually happened! !.!.!. but not to me)

in the old days there were a good number of doctors that turned to astrology on predicting the causes and disease when treating the patient, a guidance sort of!.

I believe in medical astrology to a certain degree and have pinpointed health problems in many charts!. The problem is that, while you are young, the health issues are less prominent than when you are older or when you tend to abuse of your health!. How can you tell a young healthy perosn that he will have high blood pressure later in or diabetes or what not!. He/she is going to laught at you!.
They think that they are immune to health issues or death for that matter and start drinking, eating more sweets, salt in the food, etc!.!.!.
It is not related only to 6th house but also the ruler where it is placed and aspects received!. The 12th house for hospitalization or asylums etc!.!.!.!.
Each planets brings a personality trait, an event of the nature of the planet, and health related issues as well as a cure to lessen the problem!. Each planet has a ruling on anecdotes as well!.
Mars (blood, inflammation, red global) and Saturn (obstructions, salts, bones)!. Neptune governs the medication and drugs used to successfully relieve or have no affect because it is the wrong medication prescribed!. Jupiter governs expansion and if afflicted, over-eating )!. Moon governs the nutrition and liquids!.
These are just examples of what planets and each sign rules a part of the body!. Each decanate rules the top, middle, or bottom section of the body!.
Stressful aspect always seems to point out interesting health issues that someone can get later in life if he abuses!.
I have observed something known as reflex action where a health problem exists and also affects the opposite side of the sign as in each mode!.
Ex!.!.!.!.Cardinal signs !.!.!.!.!. Aries person with high blood pressure!. If he doesn;t watch it, the kidneys (Libra) will be affected!. Now, if you look for the reasons, Cancer (Moon) would indicated bad nutrition and with Capricorn opposite indicates salts to be the cause!.
Scorpio type or an afflicted Scorpio sign who gets operated in lower body parts often affects his voice (Taurus)!.!.!.it changes pitch!.
Leo (heart) afflicted !.!.!.!. ! How come a doctor looks at your left ankle if swollen (Aquarius rules their by reflex action)!.
Stressful aspects to Leo or Sun can cause heart attacks, blockage of the arteries, etc!.!.!.!.
Just an idea of what I think and what I came across so far in my readings!. Of course doctors do not practice astrology and would probably not even consider it!.
It took many years for Chiroprators to even be accepted in the medical field!. They taught chiros were quacks also!.

Forgot to mention!.!.!.my kidneys are functioning normally and after extensive test, (400 tests in my blood samples WTF), I had the proper minerals in the body and it was convincingly boiled down to salts!.
