Aquarius symbology..."Wa!

Question: Aquarius symbology!.!.!."Waterbearer"!?
Aquarius is an air sign!. Why is Aquarius known as "The Water-bearer", and where does this symbol come from!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Aquarius is a rather faint constellation which would not be famous if it weren't part of the Zodiac!. Aquarius, as its name suggests is universally associated with water!. In most cultures, it is drawn as a man pouring water from a bucket!. This may arise from the fact that the Sun enters Aquarius in early winter when the rainy season begins in many parts of the world!.

Since all the elements have to alternate, the numbers game makes this an air sign by default!. 12 is the magic number!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's a bit confusing, isn't it, having a Water Bearer as the symbol for an Air sign!? It fits with the unpredictability of Aquarius!.

It gets even more confusing, because in ancient Babylon, the name for the sign Aquarius (gu!.la) can be interpreted as both a goddess of childbirth and healing and as meaning "constellation of the great man", referring to the giant Enkidu!. I have been told that originally the symbol for Aquarius was female, and that the jugs of water represented breasts filled with milk!.

However, the Babylonian water bearing god was Ea, the god of freshwater and streams!. Usually he is shown with water streaming from his arms and hands, but sometimes he carries a pot of water!. He is thought to be the original Water Bearer!.

The ancient Egyptians associated the constellation of Aquarius with the god Hapi, who watered the ground from two jugs held in his arms, and was the symbol for the River Nile!.

The Greeks and Romans thought of the god Ganymede as the Water Bearer of Aquarius!. He was the god of rain!. This beautiful androgynous boy was also the cup-bearer for the gods, although their cups would be filled with ambrosia and wine, not water!.

The only thing that has remained constant is that Aquarius is associated with both water, and some means of holding such a liquid!Www@Enter-QA@Com

The water- bearer, who is male, by the way, its a masculine sign, is the vessel for knowledge distribution!. Notice that the person who brings the water is not actually the water, that person is doing a service, presumably for his immediate community!. This is what aquarius is about!. They are the humanitarians and knowledge keepers of our society!. They serve people on the whole, as it is difficult for them to focus their energies on one person in a relationship!. Aquarius is concerned with the community as a whole!. The symbols are all greek and babylonian, The glyph for the water bearer is more accurate as it looks like waves, as in electrical waves!. Aquarius is ruled by the eccentric Uranus!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The water in the jug is actually symbolic of knowledge and the fact that it is being poured is supposed to signify the Waterbearer pouring it's knowledge onto humanity and spreading enlightment!. This is why many Aquarians come off as know-it-alls!. We're instinctively trying to spread our knowledge onto others and enlighten them with what we know/think to be true!. I know that I can be that way sometimes but I try not to let it get to the point of arrogance!. also, I've seen the waterbearer portrayed as a man and sometimes as a woman so I don't think the person holding the jug is gender specific!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Just googled the word waterbearer and found out that it signifies the Aquarian's calling to be of service to humanity, to pour out libations!. It has nothing to do with the emotional depths associated with water signs!. (That's a relief!. No offense!. Always wondered this myself!.)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Carry water to the people, this water can be a form of idea or knowledge, to serve humanity!. water is represented as our need, nourishment and our survival, to keep us sustained for the coming future!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
