In synastry, person A's north node conjuncting person B's venus shows that your basic values and tastes are in harmony. You are attracted to activities that involve mutual soul growth. It is easy to love one another and things may indeed have a karmic feeling on one or both ends. The sign does not matter much at all in synastry. Do you mean, when you say "in their first house" that person A's node is in person A's natal first house and person B's venus is in person B's natal first house? Or do you mean something else?
Whenever we see node connections from one person to anothers personal planets we automatically think of soul growth. In challenging aspects we see that this growth is not easy and comes only through much effort. With harmonious aspects we see these "growths" come naturally with little effort.

north node conjunct mars shows that you both keep each other current with things. You give each other courage to move forward and not let the past become the future. Soul growth comes from combining both of your energies.
