you have to know your time of birth and your place of birth. Then you can create your birthchart and read about your sun, moon, ascendant, etc...
I think astro.com is a very popular website witch will let you create a birthchart for free and explain it pretty well.
Firstly, you need to have the date of birth along with the place of birth and most importantly you need to obtain an accurate time of birth.
Armed with that information you can then seek out one of the many on-line chart making sites or you may wish to contact a competent astrologer who will either cast a chart for you or at least confirm that the generated on-line chart is indeed accurate and true.
