Where do people learn knowledge about horoscopes?!

Question: I see alot of crazy things on this board. Where do learn this stuff.

Answers: I see alot of crazy things on this board. Where do learn this stuff.

Go here
It a good easy site
Fill in your birth info
and it will generate a free birth chart for you
Then go around the site or astro click potrait
http://www.astro.com/cgi/ade.cgi?ract=xx...
CLICK ON THAT ^ LINK

The VERY basics from my partner, then from books (most borrowed, some bought). Then supplemented with stuff off the 'net (including here!). And more books.

Pst! It's not crazy, astrology works!

Ax

PS I remember recently seeing astrology as an option at a US university.
.

Mostly they link you to a computer site. Go to ten sites and you will get ten different results. Some will even accept false dates like Feb. 30 as a birth date. Same data should have same results. But these are programmed not real people with a "gift".

Edit: Sort of like Jamie's answer. At least she admits years of study may not mean a thing.

Edit: Fair enough. How does an "open-minded" person know the difference between what is real and the frauds that do take advantage of the gullible. There are false people everywhere. Even in science. That is the reason for the scientific method. The ability of others to be able to repeat and falsify claims is a self check. Where is astology's equivalent? What protects users from fraud?

Just recently a product for "male enhancement pills" was taken of the market. We all have seen the smiling man commercials. Now the owner is facing big jail time and multi-millions in refunds. That is how gullible people (and the male ego) are. We are drawn to that better mouse trap.

There are actually schools for astrology.
In India, Vedic astrology is taught in some universities.
Some learn from books, research, websites, and classes taught by other astrologers.

My interest started from religious studies and from a family member.

Then, as I grew older, I studied archaic and modern astrology books, articles, and was mentored by a kind and very patient Wiccan lady.

I also started doing charts and analysis for my many friends and co-workers...I was quite popular! And it helped me to understand better some of the interworkings.

I moved on to websites like www.astro.com and www.north-node.com, and read their academic articles. Very little is written in hard back about Lilith, Eros, etc...so this is the best place to find the newer info...not all of it is great, but these two sites are reliable.

Now I'm studying the "off-shoots"...more mathematics, charting, and research into some of the more archaic areas again...

And answering questions. Answering questions is a good way to fine-tune your understanding...

Blessings to you.

**And Mr. C is using bad software...most are just charting programs that do the math for you. Most good astrologers don't need the software, or have reliable software that isn't fooled as easily. He is right about going to 10 different horoscope sites and getting 10 different answers...because they are written by 10 different people...duh**

**lol...Jaimie--yeah, that 30 years of experience cracks me up! You rock, btw**

Google.
LOL[;

You read and read and read more.

Learn the key words of the signs, planets, and houses. Develope the ability to blend all the possible combinations together by doing as many charts as possible.

Study your own chart. You must understand yourself at least a little BEFORE you can truly understand anyone else.

Do charts. You will experience synchronicity by finding people who have things in their chart that you are struggling with.

Have your chart done by several people. Different people have different approaches. Learn from each of them.

Read but use your own judgement. There is alot of misinformation out there.

If you progress, you may eventually be lucky enough to find people who will give you special attention and guidance that you will not find from books or online (as dee demonstrated). I found one 9 yrs ago and another 2 yrs ago. The second on ebay of all places. Though I wouldn't recommend actually looking for one. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear and all that.

Never think you are at a point where you know everything there is to know. And don't trust books that claim the same. There is ALWAYS more to learn. Astrology is not for the faint of heart. It takes stamina. And an open mind. Be open to new idea. Listen to the newbies because they just might have a fresh approach that you hadn't thought of in the last 10 yr or so.

Buy an Ephemeris. Actually at least two, one for 2000 forward for transits and one for 1900-2000 for birth charts. The red one and the blue one.

You can learn to do the charts by hand or you can take advantage of free online chart services. Ex: Go to astro.com and click on "free charts". The reports on any of the free sights are canned but useful at least minimally.

Don't believe that someone is enlightened just because they claim to have 30 or so years of astrology experience. It is possible to be clueless even after that long.

Know your limitations. Some people have more of an affinity for this stuff than others.

Use common sense. If someone says they can tell a person's sexual orientation, gender, or favorite color by looking at their chart; each claim is EQUALLY ridiculous.

**dee-- thx! You rock too! The proof of how much we know is in this answer box, NOT what we claim our source might be below. That's why I usually put a joke (I think it's funny) there. I know stuff. LOL

**chainlig... don't twist my words. I did not say years of study might not mean a thing. I said someone claiming to have alot of experience might not know what they are talking about due to the insecurity shown by having to back up what they say with a number rather than just letting their words stand on their own. Apparently you only read what you wanted to read. I think this is a good time to repeat what I said about being opened minded. Being open minded is necessary if a person wants to learn astrology.

edit... Life experience, the greatest teacher. Fear of trusting the wrong person or thing is not a good enough reason to doubt everyone and everything. We fall down then we get back up. No big deal. Live and learn. I think part of you wants to be convinced. I truly do. But I'm not particularly interested in changing anyone's belief symstem. All I can do is answer questions based on what I know. Whether you or anyone else thinks any of it is of any value is entirely up to you to decide.
