Astrologically speaking, this match will probably not be long term love, but I'll tell you from first hand experience (a Virgo who has dated many Scorpios) the bedroom will be amazing.
If anything, Virgos like confidence. I would be straight forward with him about how you feel, and bring up those "things in common" to jumpstart it. Sometimes Virgos can be shy, so to have somebody else make the first move, and start the conversation, is always a good idea.

Funnily enough i am in the same position as you are. I say go for it! Why not?Lifes way too short to miss out on love. And when it comes down to it who really cares if he's a Virgo and your a Scorpio. If you like each other, want to be together and have a bond then thats all that matters. But Scorpios and Virgos are awesome matches. Both deep thinkers and observers.
