Is there such a thing as an astrological double?!

Question: Have you ever compared your natal horoscope with any of your schoolmates and other people who were born in your city/town, have the same birth date and year as you? If there is such a thing as astrological doubles, wouldn't you have quite a bit in common with them?

I would think that something like this would also help shed some light on the validity of Astrology. If anyone has knowledge of this, I'd love to hear about it.

You would have to find someone that was not only born in the same city and on the same date, but also at the same time give or take about 4 minutes. Otherwise things start changing enough to make the charts very different. I have tried to find someone who has the same birth info as me and have had no luck yet. But I would assume that the two people would have a lot in common in terms of the way they react, think, act, etc. But depending on how and where they were raised would affect their personality as well. It would be very interesting to me to find an astrological double for myself!! Great question! <3

**Isabelle brings up a good point about twins. Sometimes they are born within minutes of each other while sometimes there is quite a lot of time in between. I think with twins sometimes, one expresses one side of their signs while the other expresses the other side. And also it brings up the point that people who dismiss astrology seem to miss, the fact that everyone has free will and you can choose to work with your traits or against them, therefore creating vast possibilities of the whole personality.

Nah of course not, we're unique no matter what

Interesting....

This isn't actually too far-fetched if you think about it. When you were born there were probably a number of other babies being born at the same exact time, in the same exact hospital, maybe even in a room on the same floor =) It would be interesting to go through birth certificates at a local hospital to compare such data. As neptune said though, the personalities wouldn't be identical due to other factors such as their upbringing, environment, self esteem, and so forth. They might have a lot in common as to how they would cope in certain situations, habits, and what their emotional triggers are. I'm sure their similarities would probably outweigh their differences though. I know one thing. The world isn't ready for one more of me. One Kramerette is enough. LOL

interesting question ! I have often wondered myself also. But I also agree with Tiacola and Neptune rising.....which brings me to the subject of .......twins which is kind of fascinating.
You know ytou hear stories about twins separated at birth, given for adoption , never seing each other again for a long time and when they meet realise how much they have in common : same hobbies, same interests, even same dates they got married, etc etc etc..even though their adoptive families might have been very different ( but did they choose them anyway ??? karma and all that)
And then you hear of real twins living in the same house with the same parents but whose personalities can vary somewhat.....one wanting to be different than the other one..the quiet/shy one versus the flamboyant one etc.
And then the twins who are so close that they refuse to be separated at all cost........
Interesting subject huh ??

Too early in the morning here to think properly..

Am going to wonder about my double now ..it has got a German name.......had it on the tip of my tongue...forgot..Not poltergeist no..duppelg?nger ??

I had an astrological double in the maternity clinic where I was born! He was a redhead 'n all, just like me (and you won't believe how uncommon it is to have red hair in this country... ), born around the same time and although I don't know his exact time of birth, I've been told it was very close.

So he's the closest I have to an astrological twin - considering physical twins aren't born at exactly the same minute and sometimes there can be half a day between the births of the twins, I'd say he *is* my astrological twin! The only difference of course being that he is male and I am female. Not entirely ironically enough we both have gemini moons, and I've been convinced all my life that I had a twin walking around somewhere and my parents were just hiding that little fact from me... only later I found out about that *astrological* twin... funny.

I've never met him since my mother and I left the clinic. But I would love to meet him, just to see how much we have in common exactly.

Although touted as common due to the huge number of births that occur at any one moment somewhere in the world, astro doubles, "time twins," or "astro-twins" as they are more often called, don't seem to be that common. It could be they are more common than I believe, but no one knows since both would probably have to be interested in astrology to have any chance of finding each other to compare experiences.

I tried to find an astro-twin years ago when AOL had a board for people to register. Out of the millions of people who at that time used AOL, I found several people born the same day as me, but no one close in time or location. I found one woman, with whom I am still friendly, who was born 4 hours after me and only 40 or so miles away. Our fathers died within a couple of months of each other, after we met, but that was as close to a striking similarity as we could find.

On the other hand, try to find a wonderful little book, probably long out of print, called A Case For Astrology*, by John Anthony West and Jan Gerhard Toonder. The American Edition may only have West's name on it. Not only is this a great read, but in the photograph section there is a photo of two girls born moments apart at the same hospital. The look to be about 7 or 8 in the photograph. They are in no way related by blood and yet they look like identical twins.

Discussing a different circumstance in Appendix 2 they write: "Two unrelated women, both named Edna, met for the first time in a hospital in Hackensack, New Jersey. Both had born on the same day and were now in the hospital for their first confinements (It's an old book, that means in labor before childbirth - tc). Their babies were born within an hour of each other and both had been named Patrica Edna in advance. Both women were married to men named Harold who had been born on the same day. Both men were in the same business, owned the same make, model and color of automobile. Both couples had been married on the same day. Both women had the same number of brothers and sisters and practiced the same religion. Both families had a mongrel named Spot."

What does this prove? Nothing really, but its fun to think about. A true astro-twin or time twin would be difficult to come by.

*This book was first published in England in a hardbound edition in 1970 and by Penguin in England in paperback in 1973. This is the edition I have.

West apparently updated it and republished it in the US in March 1992 without Toonder who may have died. I've never read or even seen the 1992 edition, but it can be purchased through Amazon for less than $3.00 a copy. Well worth it.
