What in a natal chart makes one inherently geared towards the Occult, subjects s!

Question: Okay, I have some aspects in my natal that indicate this tendency, though they don't seem so evident or strong.

I don't have strong activity in 8th or 12th Houses as well.. though the 9th House is a particularly important aspect of my life.

Or would it be more of a karmic challenge for you, like those who have North Node in Scorpio/8th House or Pisces/12th, which you are destined to give up material things & focus on the spiritual side of life instead?

What are the indicators in your chart if you're inclined towards the Occult/New age subjects?

Good question.

In my case, there is a quite remarkable and surprising activity in my 12th house (including the Sun, Mercury, Uranus and Neptune, all of them in Capricorn) and I also have Pluto in my 9th house.

My midheaven is in Scorpio and in case we count the 11th house influences(my 11th house is in Sag), my Mars (in Cap) and Venus (in Sag) are both there.

Then I have Saturn conjunct both my Sun and Ascendant. As for the New age subjects, that reminds me a lot of Aquarius so I think I have to mention my Aqua rising.

Actually I always thought that my material substance was not so important compared to my spiritual one...I always thought it was something that I have to "use" (Capricorn influences, I guess, hehe), but other than that, it cannot offer me much...

I suppose that has to do with my 2nd house in Pisces. (which also probably explains my terrible relationship with money)

An air or water sign emphasis, or planets in the ninth, twelth, or eighth house.

EDIT To Restless Angel: Yeah, gemini, libra, or aquarius in your chart would also indicate an open minded and eager attitude to learn such things as the occult and mysticism. It's sad how the air signs are thought to JUST be science and communication and art, where it also indicates an interest in almost everything under the sun, and that includes occult. I know people that don't have lots of eigth, ninth, or twelth house activity but lots of air signs, that are very interested in mysticism and/or very spiritual.. I think you as a sagittarius have the aquarius moon sign, and sun conjunct neptune that makes you interested in this stuff. A scorpio mercury sign alone is NOT an indicator. Sagittarius is more likely just philosophy and sports by itself, so that is not an indicator as well. BUT, no placements are ABSOLUTE, and even people with all those placements you mentioned are not in the least bit inclined to new age spirituality. It all comes down to the individual, not just their chart.

edit 2: Hi, just wanted to explain my point. Although Like I said, I don't think water only is all mystical, as I know tons of water ppl that are just emotional, but not mystical. ha How ya doing? ^_^

Regarding astrology- usually Aquarius sign is present- either in rising, moon or sun. Mysticism is something else-in this case Scorpio sign is emphasized- 8th or 12th house may start in Scorpio, or many planets may be in Scorpio.

Good morning, Astrolady and Wolf Demon King:)!

(Astrolady, this Q hit my e mail at exactly 4:44:)...thought I'd share that bit of info as you might get a smile out of it)

*to Wolf Demon King*...I didn't know that air sign influence would indicate this as well....learn something new every day, I guess:) In that case, there's a lot of air in my chart, so there's one indicator there in my case as well. I can totally see this being the case with Aqua influence, though...not quite sure if I understand how Gemini and Libra would be a factor, though....?

Other indicators, IMO (or in my case, or both):

Uranus, Neptune or Pluto in the 8th or 9th, or aspecting planets in the 8th or 9th, and I suppose in the 3rd as well.

Water signs on the cusps of water houses or 9th house (esp. Scorpio or Pisces on 9th house cusp), or 3rd house...or 10th or 6th house too, I guess.

Mercury in a water sign (esp. Scorpio or Pisces) or in 8th or 12th house (am beginning to see where an air sign influence could be a factor WDK:)), or aspecting Pluto or Neptune or planets in Scorp or Pisces, or Planets in 8th or 12th, or in 8th or 12th.

Pisces or Scorpio ascendant or sun, or sun in 8th or 12th or emphasis on these signs and houses.

Strongly aspected Neptune or Pluto, either one in aspect to sun or ascendant (esp. conj.)

Sag/9th house influence in combination with water influence will work as well.

In my case:

Mercury in Scorpio conj. IC.

Sun conj. Neptune in Sag.

Uranus in the 3rd.

Pisces on 8th house cusp...Chiron in 8th close to 9th house cusp, maybe????

South node in Gemini, conj. Saturn in Cancer, Cancer on cusp of 12th.

Hmmm, that's all I can think of right now, will be back if I think of anything else.

EDIT: Hey, WDK, thanks:) No, of course I did not mean to imply that any one aspect or another would lead to this sort of interest in and of itself. It's the sum of the whole, of course. I do think that air needs water along with it to become really interested in these subjects, though.

*And also Nep/Sun sextile Pluto in my chart.

best one i could think of is Sun aspecting Neptune, neptune expands anything it touches and in this case, the self and ego, i think with this youll have the magic eye, at least things that normal people dont notice, also pisces in sun or moon

Curiousity is one thing. Without the inherent curiousity you would have no intention whatsoever to occupy yourself with topics like the occult, mysticism and spirituality. So the sun, moon, rising or mercury in Gemini would be a good start.

I once read that the sun in 12th house signifies a keen interest in witchcraft and the occult. In my case, this is definitely true however I don't know about any of the other people with the sun in 12th house.

Astrology isn't anything supernatural or occult, and in my opinion the topic is well placed under Uranus' rule; Uranus being the higher octave of Mercury - higher intelligence, or far fetched studies, like astrology (and quantum sciences, in case anyone was wondering...). So, Uranus in the 1st house or in the 3rd or 9th house (houses of basic education and higher education - not to be confused with higher intelligence...) could be an indicator, although most people with Uranus in the 1st house do show a keener interest in Astrology and are willing to discuss it, while other with Uranus in another house are reluctant to talk about it... in case someone thinks they're odd, you know.

Also anything in Sagittarius or in the 9th house would exhibit an interest in the spiritual and philosophical topics. Sagittarius is open to everything that comes their way, so they won't be as reluctant to discuss the subjects as most other people are.

Although traditionally the 8th and 12th house, and Pisces and Scorpio are associated with the occult and supernatural, you don't always have to have half your chart there in order to be interested in those topics.

In my case, I've an overload of curiousity; a Gemini moon as the handle of a bucket, Mercury conjunct the rising and in Sagittarius. I live for knowledge, and the phrase "curiousity killed the cat" is something people have said to me all my life - and I still haven't learned to not put my nose in where it doesn't belong. I've 4 planets in Sagittarius along with my rising - my 9th house is as empty as a bottle of wodka in an alcoholic's drink cabinet, though... - all in the 1st house. I have an unnatural interest in the spiritual and philosophical. My sun is in Scorpio *and* in the 12th house. As I said before, tendency to witchcraft. I've been a solitary witch for a while (not completely coincidentally, Saturn conjuncts my Sun and further makes no aspects to any other planet...) and strangely enough very successfully made my own spells. Uranus is in my 1st house and in Sagittarius, conjunct Mercury. Hence my more apparent interest in Astrology.

But, admittedly, most of my interests in the occult, spirituality and astrology - and the likes - are mostly out of curiousity. Apart from the witchcraft, I've never practiced anything occult (I wouldn't call Astrology occult...) and my inherent interest in all the subjects comes mainly from curiousity and thirst for knowledge.

I don't really know AstroLady, but this question had me get out my natal chart and start looking.

I noticed that Pisces is on the cusp of the 9th house and Neptune (ruler of Pisces) is semisquare my sun in Sagittarius and sextile Jupiter (ruler of Sag). Aquarius is on the cusp of the 8th house and Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) making aspects to just about everything. I am very interested in Astrology, the social sciences, religion & different cultures. The "hard" sciences interest me too but find it too serious and intense. Mysticism & other occult subjects I just find curious.

With the northern node in the 5th house in Sagittarius, I couldn't make that connection.

Anyway, I hope this helped a little.

I think that there is a Pisces, Libra Aquarian conspiracy going on in my chart that leads me to lean towards the occult. My Sun is in the 12th house in Pisces along with my Mercury AND Venus is in the 11th in Pisces. There is something fishy going on there!

My Mars is in the 9th in Cap and my moon is in Libra in the 6th. When you look at all of those together I think that it gives a very visionary, dreamy sort of bend to my universe. It also leads me easily to the arts and more interesting religions.

So when those options were presented early on in my life I took them :) It seemed like a good travel adventure :) When I was young my grandmother hand cast a chart for me and proudly announced that I was a whale Pisces. She never did elaborate but I think that after all of these years I am starting to see what she meant.
Enjoy your universe!

ASPECTS between personal planets (Sun, Moon, Merc, Ven, Mars) and those below could indicate this:

Occult: Neptune or Pluto.
Astrology: Uranus is thought of as the "astrology" planet.
Mysticism: Jupiter

Neptune in Scorpio (for one)

I have Jupiter and 8th house in Scorpio, which is only good for that kind of thing, apparently (**eyeroll**)..

Neptune in 8th house also, so I'm seeking transformation through Scorpio...

Neptune sextile Pluto and trine Ascendant...all that thought of regeneration is almost psychic and is part of my self expression...

North Node and Mars in Pisces leans toward wanting to dissolve barriers and push past the normal..

Moon in Aquarius (in 12th) does it's part too, as it gives me the desire to tear everything apart and analyze it to the tiniest level...also leads me into New Age topics...

My Sun, Merc, Venus in Cap all keep me from drifting off into lala land, and lets me filter the BS from the truth...very useful in this field, as much BS abounds...

Blessings to you.
