Question: In my search for more intelligent life in the Horoscope section, I've notice that most of the Top Contributors are private. I'd like to learn more about Astrology than just "what sign is compatible with what sign". Who does one have to sleep with to get in that "elite" group or are the common people just not allowed here?
PS I hope you all have a slight sense of humor (before you crucify me).

You're cute =) No, it's not an elite club at all.The best way to get to know people is to add them as contacts. If you feel weird doing that, I'll add you as one and you can go from there. As someone else said, the reason that most profiles are private is because of stalkers and other weirdos that look at your questions and follow you around to hassle you. I used to have my info right there for everyone to see but I had to go private for the above reason. It sucks but that's how things are now. Anyway, hang around this section long enough and you'll wake up to find a slender orange rectangle under your name..lol. I don't know what they're actually good for though. I haven't gotten any keychains or bumper stickers yet.

Read some books, generally you'd need a basic knowledge of it first before others will bother speaking to you. Good luck.
Most people make their profile private to avoid little haters who stock and report everything and everyone. Its just a privacy issue to avoid a personal stalker. Most top contributors on here are very nice and every time I have asked a question I've gotten a number of really good replies with some great and accurate information.
And I didn't have to sleep with anyone yet! LOL
Trust me, it won't hurt! (I've crucified someone before, you know ^_~) No sleeping with anyone; even though I'm not a Top Contributor (but I'm in the top 10 again! Yay! - I got kicked out thanks to a few months of absence), I put my Q&A private simply because I had stalkers thumbing me down, following everywhere I went. Apart from that you can ask me anything! ^_^
although the questions are private the email is still open so if you need to ask something that you dont want to put on here then you know what to do.
Yeah, I noticed that too. You can join their network and that may open it up. Some won't let you e-mail by choice.

The truth is that despite the fact that most of us complain about not having a decent average level of knowledge in this section, there are really few people who actually promote it.
(And just for the record, this thing with cliques happens in every section of Y!A.)
Now I know from experience that Qs and As are private not because people are not willing to share knowledge with you, but because they are not willing to provide "food" for the trolls and stalkers.

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said? Some good answers here. Yes there seem to be a group, but as Eliza said, it's that way everywhere. There are very few on here that are actually "wise" in "astrology" but if you do want to know more than this is a good way. Look you have two more fans already. Better make that three now. AstroLady is very good, try adding her and seeing if she adds you. Also, yes, books are much better than websites. If you are just starting out try focusing on the signs, houses, and planets. Cover them before aspects. Then I recommend after you have a firm grip on these, try the aspects. Then move up from there. There's alot and it takes a while to truly get it all downpad (to where you can be told something and just "pull it out" of your memory like that).
By the way nice (crucify me). I don't think you deserve crucifixion in the least. Just keep posting any questions you have on here and someone should surely give you a really good, thorough answer. If not try emailing some contacts. I allow email because of this section. I don't get emails from Answerers aside from Horoscopes. But I, like many others on here, love the emails I get and am always glad to help.
